The Nevada Cup - the RSGB LF Experimenter's Award

This annual award is for the most significant contribution, by any RSGB member, towards scientific or engineering development of receiver and / or transmitter design, modulation technique, aerial design or propagation on the 136kHz UK amateur allocation.

The award has been in existence since 1997.  For its first two years the annual cup, which the winner keeps, was sponsored by Datong Electronics Ltd.  Since 1999 the sponsorship has been generously taken over by Nevada Communications - hence the name of the award.   The winners of the award have been:

1997:  Andy Talbot, G4JNT
1998:  John Hey, G3TDZ
1999:  Dave Pick, G3YXM
2000:  David Bowman, G0MRF
2001:  Alan Melia, G3NYK
2002:  Jim Moritz, M0BMU
2003:  Laurence Howell, KL1X / GM4DMA
2004:  No award made
2005:  No award made

The award is given on the basis of a submission for the award from either a holder of a UK Amateur License or a person who is a member of the RSGB.   The person proposing someone for the award could not be the potential recipient of the award or a close relative.  The submission included either a full description of relevant work or references of published work.  The submission must state which part of the work was original.

Nominations for the award are requested and considered by a small working group that reports to the Spectrum Forum manager, whose recommendations are in term considered by the sponsor, Nevada Communications.  The award is normally presented at the annual RSGB & IOTA Convention.
